Textual description provided by the architects. There are few buildings as famous as the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia. Considered possibly the eighth wonder of the world, the opera house has a long history behind its design. The story behind this magnificent structure began in 1956, when the New South Wales government launched an open competition for the design of two performance halls, for opera and for symphonic concerts, which would put Sydney on the map.
Recently, these architects transformed an iconic Sydney building into a workplace for an Australian fashion brand, and even restored a glass ceiling that now crowns a spectacular central atrium. The architectural firm Koichi Takada Architects, based in Sydney and Doha, has finished building a new mixed-use tower in the center of Sydney. The buildings are made in a sculpted form with handmade bricks that expand the historic buildings into the urban landscape. Founded in 2001 by director Andrew Burges, Andrew Burges Architects is a small team of architects and designers.
Founded in 1889 in Sydney as Peddle Thorp & Walker, PTW Architects has offices in Sydney and Asia, including Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City.
